MDBAA Programs & Events
At the Monrovia Duarte Black Alumni Association (MDBAA), we are dedicated to turning our mission into action through a variety of enriching programs and events. These initiatives celebrate the African American community, foster educational growth, and strengthen local ties. Our focus on youth empowerment, community engagement, and cultural appreciation drives everything we do.
Honoring the Legacy
We begin each year by honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a special celebration in January, followed by a month-long series of Black History Month events in February. In collaboration with local organizations like the Duarte Historical Museum, Monrovia Unified School District, Monrovia Public Library, IDream Society, KGem, Set for Life, San Gabriel Valley Volunteer Center, and others, we offer a wide range of educational, cultural, and entertaining programs that highlight the significant contributions of African Americans.
Youth-Centered Initiatives
Our commitment to youth education is at the heart of everything we do. We organize workshops for students and parents, covering important topics like navigating post-high school education, college readiness, career exploration, and financial planning. Each year, we are proud to award scholarships to deserving Monrovia and Duarte High School seniors to support their pursuit of higher education.
Community Support & Partnerships
Our dedication extends beyond our events. We actively support local community initiatives by hosting booths, volunteering, and partnering with organizations to further our mission of empowerment and fellowship.
